BACK CARE YOGA

Evolutionary speaking, we became two legged creatures not that long ago. We are still perfecting our design. That's why so many people, the statistics say 3 out of 4, have back pain at some time in their lives. But we don't need to be the victims of the evolutionary shortcomings! Using our knowledge and consciousness we can easily address the problems by understanding their roots and establishing healthy habits and movement patterns! In these classes Petrina will introduce participants to the basic alignment principles, and a simple sequence of strengthening and restorative yoga postures, powerful relaxation techniques, hands on healing and wealth of information that helped to heal her and many of her students' chronic back, neck and shoulder pain.

All levels welcome. These workshops are recommended for yoga teachers.
Students with serious back conditions need to contact Petrina before the classes.

YIN YOGA & MERIDIANS

Yin yoga is a more passive and contemplative form of yoga practice. The postures are held for several minutes, giving the practitioner plenty of time for introspection. The muscles (= yang tissue) stay mostly relaxed so that the connective (= yin) tissue of the body can be targeted. A static, elongating “stress” on the ligaments (tissue around the joints) and other connective tissue not only makes it grow thicker and longer, it also opens the flow of energy through the energy pathways (called meridians or nadis).
In this workshop Petrina will guide through 2 sequences of postures targeting the liver & gall bladder meridians (lots of hip opening postures and twists) and kidney & bladder meridians (forward and back bends). Great way to open the body and encourage better energy flow throughout.
Not recommended for total beginners.
